In 2015 a few school districts in Colorado presented the Seal of Biliteracy to their school boards, Denver Public Schools being one of them, where the response from community members, the school board, students and families members has been overwhelmingly positive. What is the Seal of Biliteracy? Who is eligible to participate in this program and what will our students gain from having this seal? To answer these questions, we have invited Jorge Robles and Heidi Saunders.

Parental involvement has strong positive effects on student achievement in school. When parents are engaged with their child’s education, attendance improves, grades and test scores go up, and graduation rates rise. One of the ways we encourage parents to get involved is to participate in the Superintendent Parent forums. Today we have Mark Ferrandino, DPS’ Chief Financial Officer and Joe Saboe Executive Director for CareerConnect about the Superintendent Parent Forum coming this Wednesday December 16th.

School Choice is a very important resource in which parents and students would be able to choose the right school during the school year 2016-2017. That includes Pre-School through middle School students who will be looking to get enrolled for the first time or for any” transitioning student”. They must fill out the proper School Choice forms to secure a spot in a school of their choice.
CareerConnect offers students relevant courses while connecting them with over 100 companies and over 15 colleges for hands-on work place experiences and mentoring. That’s why we have invited Joe Saboe to Educa Radio to help us learn more about this great project.
